Please respect the copyright of any paintings, drawings, photographs or graphics posted in the forum by members. If you would like to have a go at a members painting or photo, please ask first. Most members will usually agree to this where it is for the sole purpose of your own education. The Monthly Joint Projects Forum will specifically give permission for the use of a photograph.

insert images into your forum post. From an image already on the web at your web
site or by uploading to your personal upload folder at Paintdoodles. Both
are accessed by pressing the
This will open the Image properties dialog box.
To insert an
image from your computer, press the Browse Button
and follow the on screen prompts. To insert an image from your web site: enter the full URL to the image in the Image URL Box. Resize and position the image, if necessary, using the controls above the preview box. An Alternative text for the image can be entered. The text will show when the viewer does a mouse over the image in the forum or when no images are displayed due to the viewers browser settings. TIP: If the picture is showing in your web space, you can right click on the image and selecting ‘properties’ will give you the full URL of that image. Just highlight and copy. When you are at the point where the Insert Image pop-up box appears, just paste the URL but make sure only ONE ‘http://’ is showing. Important – file names should be lower case with no spaces and only: - (minus) or _ (underscore) characters. Many servers do not recognize caps, spaces or special characters in file names and using them may cause your image not to show.
About Images:The first thing you must do is get your image onto your computer either by way of a scanner, a smartcard / smartmedia / memory stick device or directly from a digital camera. This instructional assumes you already know how to go about performing that task. For those who do not know how to go about this, it’s best to obtain that information through the input device instruction manual. Directions can be different depending on device and many times the manufacturer of the device being used. Once you have your image, then it is important to “prep” it for showing on the Internet. There are a number of programs to use for this such as Adobe Photoshop Elements, Jasc Paint Shop Pro, etc. You may need to “correct” your image with regards to being too dark, too light, out of focus, colour correction and so on ……… refer to graphic’s program instructions for taking care of this type of prep work. Produce the correct image size for showing on the Forum. Set your image editing software to measure the image in pixels. Use Resize to reduce your image as follows: image sizes are best kept to no larger than 500 pixels wide and 400 pixels high for landscape format….vice versa for portrait. Use a resolution of 72ppi (pixels per inch) Save photographic type images (pictures of your paintings) as .jpg files and line art as .gif files. With jpg files, use a compression which will reduce the file size to 50kbytes or less whilst maintaining the picture quality. If your photographic software has a 'Save for web' facility this will usually do a more efficient job of producing a good quality picture at minimum size. There's also a tutorial for sizing images in Irfanview here. Irfanview is a free image editing software package. Deleting Images from your upload folderWhen logged in,
